413 days later…

So, I was planning on posting a couple of lengthy blogs before leaving, however….  Life got in the way.  I had to finish enjoying this place.

I’ll post recaps of August, September and the wee bit of October I spent here at some point on my vacation.

I’m scheduled to depart in just over 12 hours.  That means I have 5 hours until I bag drag and 9 hours until transport time to Pegasus.  The sea ice isn’t strong enough to hold a C-17 this year…  I was worried about that when I was still seeing open water in July.

From here, I head to New Zealand, followed by Hawaii.

Then I’ll be back in Brunswick.

On a side note, I find it amusing that once I became tired of telling people back in Brunswick that I was excited to be going to Antarctica because, well, it’s ANTARCTICA, I (sarcastically) started telling them that I had dated all of the single guys in Brunswick and I needed to move on to new prospects…  I never thought I’d actually be bringing one back with me.

Hello! I'm a so-so photographer, okay writer, former 911 telecommunicator and world's best Aunt. Closing in on 40, I find myself at a point in my life where I have no idea what I want to do next. I'm currently spending summer 2021 in Texas with my boyfriend, Robert and helping him start building a plane before he goes back to Antarctica in August.
